Wings that Are Smoked AND Fried = Incredible
There’s no doubt that smoked wings are the “thing” right now. It seems like every restaurant is trying them, but it’s not as easy as throwing store bought chicken wings into a run-in-the-mill smoker. That’s what we learned when we spent a day in the kitchen at Northside Yacht Club, a place that’s gaining notoriety as having some of the best wings in Cincinnati. Co-owner Stuart MacKenzie agreed to show us their secret (until now) process that has plenty of customers coming back for more. The rub is spicy, complex and truly unique. However, you can’t get the full experience (and amazing smokey flavor) until you go there and try them in person.
Northside Yacht Club’s “Famous Smoked Wing Rub”
NOTE: This recipe is done in parts, so use it accordingly depending on how much chicken you’re preparing.
What you’ll need:
- 2 parts Pepper
- 2 parts Salt
- 2 parts chili powder
- 1 part Paprika
- 1 part garlic powder
- 1 part onion powder
- 1 part Thyme.
- Add all ingredients to a big bowl and mix together by hand. Rub generously on chicken.
