When it comes to the pure glory of sport and physical endurance, you can't beat racing wiener dogs.
When it comes to the pure glory of sport and physical endurance, you can’t beat the wiener dog race.
Taking place over the Labor Day weekend at Oktoberfest at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds in Cleveland, Ohio, the races are held in three divisions: puppy, seniors and adults — with a big final race at the end of day to determine the top dog.
The speedy pups run an indoor track toward their owners, who wait behind the finish line, doing their best to coax their dogs in the right direction by yelling and waving of arms and treats.
The dogs perform to packed seats and thunderous applause. If you’ve never seen it, you owe it to yourself to watch in person. Or at least watch our video.
No, seriously. Watch this video. This might be the greatest wiener dog race of all time. If it’s not, it’s at least presented that way with an incredible music choice, dramatic slow motion, and all the smiles from the fans and owners you might expect.
