Smoked Old Fashioned recipe to celebrate National Bourbon Day

Here’s a recipe for the classic “Old Fashioned” like bartenders mix up at RX Lounge.

What’s a Smoked Old Fashioned? Well, we’re here to show you.

Celebrate National Bourbon Day

It’s a holiday we probably don’t have to tell you how to celebrate.  All you really need is a bottle to share with your friends.

Every year, people celebrate in a variety of ways.  For instance, you could celebrate the holiday at a tasting from an independent whiskey room or head to a bar for a cocktail.  However, if you don’t feel like getting out and about, here’s a recipe for the classic “Old Fashioned” like bartenders mix up at RX Lounge. It’s located inside the Hotel Indigo.

Smoked Old Fashioned

Ingredients

2 oz Bourbon

1/4 oz Simple Syrup

2 Dashes bitters

Directions

Swirl in beaker

Add magnetic strip in beaker

Add hickory chips and light fire

Let it spin on beaker for 10 seconds with smoke

Pour over ice.

(If you don’t have the fancy science equipment, you can stop at the bitters.  Just give it a stir or shake, and pour over ice.  If you want to try the Smoked Old Fashion, check out the RX Lounge.)

At its heart, this holiday is all about getting together with friends and family, and appreciating one of life’s great pleasures.  Celebrate responsibly, though.
