This program teaches local youth how to take on the music industry “like a boss”

The Richland County Library partnered with AT&T to create the “Like a Boss” program.

The program teaches youth about the business aspect of the music industry while also developing their talents. By the end of the program, the teens will have produced their own album.

After a few rounds of auditions, these passionate young adults were able to begin learning and creating under the mentorship of experienced artists. One of those artists is local hip-hop artist and producer, Sheem One the MC.

“I’ve been doing music for over 10 years and the only thing that saved me to have this as my full-time career was my business savvy,” Sheem said. “Understanding numbers and understanding contracts and understanding what you’re worth is way more important than your talent!”
