Grilled apple pie might sound like an oxymoron, but as we continue to find with most foods … don’t knock the grilled version until you try it. Can our apple pie take the heat? Find out on the latest episode of “Will It Grill?!”
Grilled Apple Pie
- 1 pre-made pie crust
- 4-5 Granny Smith apples, thinly sliced
- ¼ cup sugar
- 1 tbsp corn starch
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- Ice cream and whipped cream for serving
Preheat the grill to a medium heat, about 350 degrees.
In a bowl, combine apples, sugar, corns starch, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Combine and set aside. Line a 9” aluminum pie plate with crust and, using a spoon, press down into edges. Pour apple mixture into crust and fold remaining crust edges over top.
Place a baking tray upside down on a the grill grates. This will create a raised surface so the crust bottom won’t burn. Put the pie on top of the baking tray, and close grill lid. Cook for 20-30 minutes, checking at 15 minutes to make sure the crust isn’t burning.
Cool and serve with whipped cream and ice cream.
