The Fast Break Burger was the 2017 Louisville Burger Week champion
Former Cards and Utah Jazz star Darrell Griffith is now running his popular restaurant from downtown Louisville.
Griff’s original location was on Cardinal Boulevard near UofL, where it opened in 2015. The restaurant was an instant hit with students and Cards fans.
“Being by my alma mater was always a blessing for a startup, but we outgrew that and that’s why we made the move,” Griffith said.
In April, 2018, Griff decided to close that location and focus on a new space at the corner of 2nd and West Liberty Streets. He obtained the property around the time construction began on the OMNI hotel.

The new Griff’s features a large bar with a 160-inch big screen and dozens of other televisions throughout the restaurant. They are also rebuilding an adjacent space in the building to be used for private events.
The menu has a wide variety of appetizers, burgers, salads, entrees and more.
In 2017, Griff’s Fast Break Burger claimed top prize during Louisville Burger Week.
“They came to me and said, ‘We want to enter Burger Week,'” Griff explained. “I said, ‘What’s burger Week?’ And they told me a lot of restaurants get involved and see who can come up with the best burger, voted on by the fans. So they came up with the Fast Break Burger and we won!”
