Bubbly Cocktail Perfect For The Holidays

Holiday parties are the perfect time to wow your guests with exciting new drink flavors that are reminiscent of this time of year.

“When we all think of the holidays, certain smells and flavors immediately pop into your head,” said Jeremiah Schenzel, Beverage Director at The Cocktail Club in Charleston, South Carolina. “Cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg, grandma baking cookies. All that kind of stuff. And we have classic spirits that definitely pair well with those flavors.”

When The Southern Weekend tasked Jeremiah with crafting a unique holiday-inspired cocktail, he came back with a drink that mixes champagne with a few spirits.  They may have some unfamiliar names, but you’ll definitely recognize the flavors.

“This cocktail is more of a social style of cocktail. Maybe you’re at a reception with a lot of different people and you want something a little light and a little fruity that you can walk around the room with and have a conversation.”

Jeremiah’s nameless cocktail combines the sweet, orange flavor of Aperol, the botanical spiced blend of Yellow Chartreuse, a quality vodka to enhance the flavors, and some bubbly (champagne or a sparkling wine work perfect).

Ingredients:

  • .25 oz. Aperol
  • 1 oz. Vodka
  • 2 oz. Yellow Chartreuse
  • Ice
  • Champagne/bubbly of choice
  • 1 brandied cherry

Recipe:

1) Combine Aperol, Vodka, and Yellow Chartreuse in a cocktail shaker.

2) Add ice cubes to the shaker. Close and give it a good shake. Double strain the drink into a flute glass.

3) Top with champagne or other bubbly beverage. Drop in brandied cherry.

Enjoy!
